"Heat Shrink Innovations (HSI) granted licence to use Junkosha’s innovative peelable heat shrink tubing (PHST) technologies "
Pioneer of peelable heat shrink tubing sector initiates licence agreement with Heat Shrink Innovations enabling further proliferation of Junkosha’s PHST technologies across the wider medical device marketplace
Materials specialist and pioneer of peelable heat shrink tubing (PHST) technology, Junkosha Inc., has initiated a licence agreement with Texas-headquartered Heat Shrink Innovations LLC to enable it to manufacture PHST solutions using their patented technologies. This new agreement reinforces Junkosha’s technology position at the forefront of this expanding sector at a time when precision engineered, miniaturised micro catheters and guide wires are becoming a necessity for an increasing amount of procedures.
Junkosha’s PHST solution is the industry’s first peelable FEP heat shrink tubing that answers medical professionals’ needs for an easy, cost-effective way to remove the outer lining from catheters and guide wires without harming the underlying substrate. Following the granting of this new licence agreement, Junkosha is not only enhancing its market leading position, but also enabling PHST to proliferate into the wider medical device sector. This is part of Junkosha’s wider licensing programme designed to enable diffusion of this technology more broadly across the global medical device market.
Joe Rowan, President and CEO of USA and Europe for Junkosha, is responsible for driving the global expansion of the company in strategic markets, including medical products.
“The market is creating its own momentum, within which an increasing number of customers are leveraging this valuable technology,” explains Rowan. “It is no longer a product only used by ‘early adopters’, but rather has now entered the mainstream. Indeed, we are continuing to innovate in this category which we have pioneered. Backed by our unmatched experience and innovative track-record in materials science and fluoropolymers, our patented solutions are increasingly in demand by customers and competitors alike.”
“For example, at MD&M West between 6th – 8th February, we discussed our newest solutions within the PHST sector, the first ultra-small (0.009” REC ID) and high-shrink ratio (2:1) PHST on the market. These products have been created based on customers’ unmet needs, further supporting the wider industry belief that peelable heat shrink tubing is a strong consideration for both new designs and upgrading of legacy designs.”
